Points to consider:
Choose something that you like!
Decide if you want to choose a selection that is "frequently" found on the AP exam or if you want to choose something more individualized. There is nothing wrong with either approach:) Please make your choice by December 1st. You will need to have your selection read upon return from Christmas break.
I'm going to use Jane Eyre for my focus, although I have not actually read it yet so I do not know what my paper's statement will be.
ReplyDeleteI think it'd be easier to organize blogs, if people posted what their focuses are, or at least what they might be. So...this is why I am posting mine.
I am going to read Dante's The Divine Comedy, but I have not yet chosen a specific aspect or concept to focus upon in my paper.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading Jane Eyre as well.
ReplyDeleteI am going to read Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad
ReplyDeleteI am reading House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros.
ReplyDeleteI am also going to read The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
ReplyDeleteI am also reading Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights.
ReplyDeleteI shall be reading 1984! (I'm very excited)
ReplyDeleteMango Street is on the 9th grade reading list. I don't think that you can get enough from that book for a paper of this size.... Please choose again:)
ReplyDeleteI'm doing Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to read Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.
ReplyDeleteOkay I am changing my choice. I am going to read The Portrait of a Lady by Henry James.
ReplyDeleteI have decided to read Toni Morrison's The Bluest Eye.
ReplyDeleteMrs. Edwards, you suggested House of the Spirits, but it is not on the AP list you gave us. Is it okay for me to read it still?
ReplyDeleteI am also doing The Portrait of a Lady by Henry James. I know of a few few doing the same book and I think collaborating with them will help me a lot, regardless of how we communicate
ReplyDeleteI am super indecisive. So I am going to check out Wuthering Heights, Portrait of a Lady, and Tess of the D'Ubervilles and decide after reading a bit of each.
ReplyDeleteKelsey. I did a little more research about House of the Spirits...it is on some school list as an AP selection. If you want to use it, it is fine with me. The only thing is that I can't seem to find out how frequently it appears on the AP tests... It is a judgement call. You can choose it if you want to do so...
ReplyDeleteAnne. That is fine. Just don't paint yourself into a corner with your choices. I don't want you to be stressed:)
ReplyDeleteAlison. Morrison is the new darling of the AP test makers, due to the multicultural aspect. Also, there will be plenty of material for the second part of the research paper.
ReplyDeleteAnother good choice for those wanting a more mod. voice would be Amy Tan (American/Asian). Bonesetter's Daughter is a good read:)
Audrey. Did Ellen use House of the Spirits for her research paper? Maybe she can tell Kelsey a little about it...
ReplyDeleteI will be reading The Portrait of a Lady by Henry James, and possible another novel because I have trouble deciding :/
ReplyDeleteSo far, I'm thinking about reading catch-22 but I've got a few other options i'm considering. I'm having trouble deciding.
ReplyDeleteI'm also having trouble deciding! I'm either going to write my paper on the Portrait of a Lady or Jane Eyre.
ReplyDeleteIm thinking of Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man or Room with a View. Im going to a bookstore today to pick one out.
ReplyDeleteI am going to read Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift as the material for my term paper.
ReplyDeleteI will be reading House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende.
ReplyDeleteI am reading House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende also.
ReplyDeleteI am reading Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to read The Jungle by Upton Sinclair. I love how Sinclair is exposing the corruption in the meat industry, an issue still prevalent today, but with a different type of working class (illegal immigrants). I'm so passionate about the current disastrous meat industry that I'm pretty sure I'll love this book.
ReplyDeleteI am going to read The house of the Spirits by Isabel Allende.
ReplyDeleteI was having a difficult time choosing between three: East of Eden by Steinbeck Jane Eyre by Bronte or The Little Foxes by Helman
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going with Jane Eyre.
I'm switching to Tess of the d'Urbervilles.
ReplyDeleteI am either going to read Tess of the d'Urbervilles or Wuthering Heights but probably Tess of the d'Urbervilles.
ReplyDeleteI think im going to write about Paradise Lost by John Milton
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going to do Tess of the d'Urbervilles or possibly Jane Eyre.
ReplyDeleteI am either reading One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey or Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro. I'm going to read both and then pick which one I want to write about.
ReplyDeleteI am going to analyze the work of John Steinbeck's East of Eden
